Homecoming nominees have been selected by their classes.  The freshman class selected Ms. Lori Barnett to represent their class during the coronation exercises.  She is the daughter of Julie and Randy Barnett of the Waggoner Ranch.  Our sophomore nominee this year is Ms. Sierra Thomas.  Sierra is the daughter of  Willie and Greg Thomas of Northside.  Representing the junior class is Ms. Robbi Barnett, she is also the daughter of Julie and Randy Barnett of the Waggoner Ranch.  Ms. Maigan Gober, daughter of Gay Graham of Electra is our senior nominee this year.  Serving as crown bearer and flower girl during the coronation will be Roper and Cutter Smith of the Waggoner Ranch.  The coronation is set to begin at 7pm, in between the JH and varsity football games.  The homecoming game is set to begin at 7:30pm.  We will be playing the Notre Dame Knights.

Dress-Up days have been set for the homecoming festivities.  We get to celebrate Labor Day on Monday with no school.  The students will return to school on Tuesday with the theme of “Camo Day”, everyone needs to wear their camouflage.  Wednesday will be “Crazy Sock” Day, followed by “Hat Day” on Thursday.  And we will finish out the week with “Purple and Gold” on Friday.

The Senior Class will be busy during the Homecoming celebration trying to raise money for their senior trip.  They will raffle a wonderfully delicious cake prepared by Caitlyn Henry during half-time of the varsity football game on Friday night.  Saturday the class will prepare and serve  brisket, potato salad, green beans, and corn for all of the graduates of HHS.  Registration for that event begins at 10am.  Lunch will be served at noon.  The seniors are led by their sponsor Coach John McGee.

The Lady Hornets will have a full week of volleyball this week beginning with their first district game against the Electra Lady Tigers on Tuesday.  JV and varsity will both play at Electra beginning at 5pm.  Thursday and Saturday the Lady Hornets will travel to Childress to participate in their tournament.  They will face off against Munday, Olton, and Aspermont in the first round of that tournament.  Seniors this year include Caitlyn Henry and Taylor Echols.  Savanah Cato, Robbi Barnett, Maddison McKay, Shannon Raines, and Becca Lindop are our junior team members.  Sophomores include McKenna Hopkins, Gabby Daniel, Ashley Perez, Michaela Thomas, and Alexandria Ortega.  New to the team this year are freshmen Bree McKay, Madison Templeton, Jordan Moralez and Lori Barnett.

Ethan Cato is in the student spotlight this week.  Ethan is a senior and has attended HHS since Kindergarten.  He is the son of Coy and Tina Cato of Harrold and has two sisters, Tabatha Patterson , and Savanah Cato, a junior.  Ethan participates in all sports and FFA.  He has received all-district honors in basketball and football and was named honorable mention all-state punter in football last year. He was also named Who’s Who in Advanced Journalism.  After high school, Ethan plans a career in law enforcement.  Some of his favorites include Dr. Pepper, Pizza, and the Ford Mustang.
